Trip put on hold (by m scott)

Anyone else have to put a trip on hold this year due to gas prices or anything else? We actually take trips to the WI Dells every Year for some hiking and the kids like the water parks. This year however they suffered terrible flooding. The entire Lake Delton emptied. Maybe you saw it on the news, houses got swept away and everything. Seems like they will suffer huge loses to the local economy this year with that not to mention the gas prices.

I've had to put a trip on hold because of a sudden financial issue, I had to pay a large sum of money.

This year was not so good for me because I have to put of my trip and fail to experience something wild and adventurous this year. The main reason behind is that my girl friend gone through extremely serious fewer.

I feel the gas pinch. Gas cost has limited my promotional tour a little. Not the best time for touring across the USA.

I don't think it is going to get better anytime soon either. Prices are at the highest they have ever been here right now. They fell a few cents but over the last week have gone up 10 cents. It is giving me a good reason to ride my bike, but even taking trips to places that would take us maybe 3 hours to go to just aren't worth th 80-100 bucks we would have to drop on gas.

I've had to put off several trips because of gas issues. A lot of traveling I do is paid for by companies and then I do my own traveling to visit friends/family. With the gas the way it is I just can't afford to take any road trips which is a pain. I can barely manage to see friends that live outside of the Atlanta suburbs. It's a mess.

Seems to be a common theme. It is nice to see congress doing nothing about it either. They complain about big oil companies but just put a 2 year hold on wind and solar research. They talk a good game but when it comes down to it we know who pays them.

I'd planned on going SOMEWHERE this summer - wasn't sure where yet, but I wanted to get out for a change - but gas prices put the kibosh on any plans pretty quickly. Bless you, oil companies, and your willingness to help me save money by eliminating any chances to have fun.

Gas prices are still lower than Europe, guys. But yea, if you don't want to make a trip across the states, I'd suggest a nice local adventure, each state has it's own great places to be discovered.

Europe they dont want you to drive. Oil cost the same but they tax it like crazy.

Gas prices are really very taxing to pursue those trips. How about Plan B. Maybe its good idea to have alternatives that are less expensive but still enjoyable for all of us.

Like what? Biking for 5000 km? :) I don't think so. However much, it's still better than nothing at all.

Not only my trip has to put on hold in this year, my monthly eat-out outings also has to be foregone. Everything is so expensive nowadays which forces me to cut every possible corner in our spendings.

I talked too much back then. I too am planning a bike tour of Europe now. It would be pretty wild!
