30mph to 0 in 4 feet (by Lucas Baier)

My best bike crash was at Snowmass. At the time I was just getting into DH biking. I had all the protective gear but was still riding my Cannondale XC bike. My poor bike just did not have what it took to be running DH trails. Anyway, I had just rocked a section that had been flipping me over my handle bars all day. After breezing through this previously difficult area, I got a little cocky. I came in a a relatively easy section going way to fast. I started bouncing around so hard I had to take my fingers of the brakes just to stay on the bike. Never a good situation. So I was totally out of control just trying to stay on the bike when i bottomed out my front shock. Just as I bottomed out I hit a large buried rock, going about 30mph. Next thing I knew I was flying like Superman while watching my bike go the other way. Those who saw the wreck thought I was dead. I am usually good about getting right back up after a crash, but not this time. Finally my bud got to me. He started doing some concussion test but all I could do was ask if my bone was sticking out of my shoulder. Luckily it was not though to this day it still feels like the bone is sticking out.

Oh, wow! That sounds even more painful than the wrestling injury in the forum. That's what usually happens, we get to feel that we're good enough, get careless and then wam! crash.

i agree...your story sounds much more painful in comparison to that wresting injury in the forum.
