perhaps my best sports injury was one I caused. In a basketball game I was defending the other team's point guard and he lost the ball. We scrambled for the ball and he tripped over me, landing right on the ball. He let out a weird sound and then began moaning/gasping. Turned out he broke a rib and punctured a lung. It was an accident so I din't feel horrible about it, especially since they said he would be ok. He did make some weird moises though.

Oh God what happen to him now? Did it cause a permanent disability?

Wow, a punctured lung? From landing on a ball? That's a new one. Makes sense, but... egh. I'm cringing here.

I never saw the kid again so I am not really sure what happened to him. It wasn't life threatening, so they said, and I would think he probably should have healed up fine. I have never done more than break a couple fingers and a toe playing sports but I have actually been involved in a punctured lung, broken hard, broken leg, dislocated knee, and who knows how many concussions. Crazy and lucky I guess.

That is pretty horrible a punctured lung can lead to death. If the person was gasping it was probably because they weren't getting enough air since there was a hole in their lungs. The noises could have been the sound of air escaping the lung. Ugh I'm having an ER flashback. That was one of those jobs that you love to hate.

You worked in the ER? That must have made for some rather horrid experiences.

How can that children survive with this bulks of disability? I'm getting so thrilled only by remembering these shits injuries, so what would have been with that boy?
I am sure he was ok. They would have told us otherwise and our school would have done something for the family.
Oh my god, a punctured lung. And you're saying "my best" sports injury. That's a little cruel, to say the least.
That isn't something that I would even want to experience, a punctured lung? Man had to been crazy.

sports are rough, accidents happen. I'm glad you didn't feel guilty. It was an accident. Now if it had been intentional that would be a different story.
