Advice needed. (by SL TE)

This is less technical than a personality issue.

I love camping. Have ever since I was a kid. My parents used to take me out all the time. I have no problems not showering for days on end and living among bugs.

My girlfriend's another story. Every time I mention camping she says she'll come so long as there's a hotel for her to stay in nearby. Kinda puts a damper on the situation. She's a bit of a clean freak who is too in love with technology (says the guy who works on a computer for a living).

Is there anything you could think of that I could do to get her out of the house and into the camping spirit? Some sort of happy medium I could look for? 'cause I'm stuck.

Mybe you could rent a small RV or camper to pull for her first trip. You could always set up a tent outside of it. You should probably pick a place that also has a town or other activities near by so that she isn't confined so to speak to the woods for the whole trip. Maybe going into town to eat or shop or whatever would give her a break from nature.

I considered something along those lines, though I think she'd just dump me in the trees and make a beeline for the town for the majority of the time.

I'll probably end up having to just camp with friends and leave the significant other where she is. Sigh.

Maybe you can let her plan the first trip. Give her some choices with like brochures or something as a place to start or narrow it down.

Take her to a camp site like KOA or that type of thing. There she'll have other people around, a bathroom and the basics. My mom didn't like camping either and so that is what my dad did.

Take her to a camping that offers some basic facilities she could use. After she gets used to it, try more things.

Ease her from camping near a modern cabin to whatever her preference is. Try to show her why she should go camping with you and emphasize it would be romantic for the both of you to be alone in the wilderness.

Right! choose a camp site with a nearby cabin for rent. I think she is just extrapolizing on the thought of sleeping outside in the wilderness. It will help her ease out the shock of being haunted by wild animals whatsoever, at the same time modern technology will be within her reach.
