How much does it cost? (by Eugen Suman)

How much does it cost to get good equipment and good training? Is it pockets draining?

It varies really because it depends on what type of climbing you plan to do. Starting out you might consider renting your equipment to make sure that this is something you want to spend money on. Climbing is not for everyone.

Thats what I believe in anything that you want to do when it comes to certain hobbies. You want to rent your equipment instead of investing alot of money into something that you may not do for long. Because as far as climbing equipement is concerned it can get very expensive.

For a sport like climbing most do not think there will be a lot of out of pocket expenses involved when in fact the opposite is true. It is a good idea to rent equipment until you know that this is for you, but once you decide that you want to stick with it I totally recommend buying your own equipment. Also, because you want to make sure you are safe all the time, I suggest spending the extra dough to buy the best gear possible. It does add up though. I have never kept a tally of what I spend, but you do need to have the money to be able to afford all the stuff that is needed.
