I'n a noob of sorts. I mean, I know how to RIDE a bike, but I want to ride on the weekends, for exercise and sport. Obviously, I need to start with a bike! Any advice for a starter out of the gate?

Try to research and or watch some videos on the different types of biking(road, mountain, Cross country, downhill and freeride). What do you see yourself as? Going fast on the road, Biking through the woods on the weekends, or flying down a mountain. What is your landscape. stuck in the city? No mountains near by or what ever. Then try to rent a bike for what you hav choosen. If you are into it then try a few out, do some research and take it from there. Bikes can be a big cost. no point in spending a bunch till you know you like it and how much. Then spend accordingly. Lucas

I hadn't thought about renting a bike. My mind went immediately to "buy"! :-)
As for my area, it's suburban Detroit. We have trails in the surrounding area, but no mountains (barely even hills). I would be biking through nature and off-road, likely along pre-established paths to begin with.

Try to rent some cross country mountain bikes. Try a few. Look for geometry, weight, brake type. Then try finding a used one or a good deal on one. You can always buy them from our store. Lucas

Hey Lucas, do you guys ship to Europe? Just wondering.
|
 |
All our products are shipped directly from the major retailer, but I think so. If not let me know. Where in EU are you? We are always looking for ambassadors. Lucas

I'm in eastern europe, and I want to buy a bike, but a good one, not cheapo generic ones that I can find here.

I checked the shop, but couldn't find bikes, only parts. Do you have a link or something?

Wear a helmet. Seriously. Dress to the weather, bring water, and don't overdo your cycling. More than an hour/1.5 hours can be bad for your knees.
