Ok, my wife has informed methat she'd like to take up skiing. Where do we start?

I'm pretty interested in that too! For instance, what kind of equipment should I buy? What's the best for begginers? Where can I go to both learn and have fun? Anyone?

I have always wanted to go skiing but I am no where near places with enough snow. My brother took it up while in Alaska and says he enjoyed it.

I've always thought Alaska was mainly flat land, don't ask me why :)

I don't know if it was flat where he was or not, he didn't say. It wouldn't matter with him, though. He'd find a way, lol.

Skiing . . . I have never tried, its very frightening for me. I just help myself rolling over the snow. Its worth the fun though. LOL

One of my friends tried to teach his wife. Unfortunately, it all went horribly wrong, and she ended up with a sprained ankle. Pretty nasty.
