Sack Up Sports Heads to the XGames www.sackupsports.com (by Lucas Baier)

1-16-08 So I started packing today for my departure tomorrow from Atlanta to Kansas City, then to Denver and ending up in Aspen Saturday. I am happy to say that I actually got everything loaded into my SUV: 300 plus promotional items, 3 sets of gear and boards, computers printers and more. Fit like a glove. Anyway, while I was loading up the car it actually started to snow in the ATL. NO JOKE. I started laughing because somebody recently told me I had a snowballs chance in hell of making things work. We I am not in Hell, but the ATL is pretty hot, so I must be getting close. I actually had to salt my driveway. I feel lucky, since I may be the only person in the state of GA with snow tires on. I will check back in tomorrow to let everyone know my progress.
1-19-08 Hit Denver last night. They say it rarely snows in Denver but every year it snows as I drive through, both ways. Anyway, picked up my buddy, and editor, Drew in Denver and headed out to Aspen. Took us a really long time due to a multiple fatality accident on 70. It was great to get back to Aspen. Looks like there has been a tone of snow as the snow banks are out of control at my sister's place.  So we are just getting settled in at this point.
1-20-08 So Drew and I are trying to knock out all the prep work prior to the XGames. Unfortunately we got DENIED!!! for our XGames press passes which means we will have limited access to the cherry spots but we still have access. Fortunately, the layout of the XGames allows the use of a zoom lens and can cover most of the events from the public areas. They were very interested in what we were doing but require a little more street cred before granting access. Such is life.
1-21-08 THE WORLD BALANCES IT SELF OUT. As I mentioned we did not get the Press credentials for the XGames, but I got an email today approving our credentials for the Honda Session in Vail Feb 8-10. I will take it. This can be the first domino. My experience says that once you get the first approval the others will be easier. The funny part is we went to drop off our boards to get waxed at the XGames site. The lot was totally full. So we pulled in to ask if we could just unload our boards when all the sudden the sheriff starts waving us into the restricted area. As I said the lot was full, so he started moving some cones and made us our own place to park. he started talking to us as if we were actually competing in the contest, so we just rolled with it. I guess the SUV with all the SUS logos has more street credit than I thought. It was all very funny. Also, looks like a storm is rolling in to blanket the mountain just in time for the XGames.
1-22-08 I am crushed. Drew and I stayed up all night brainstorming ideas for articles and content for the site. Some of our best work is done late at night with a good buzz. This morning started off good. We contacted Belly Up, a concert venue in Aspen to see if they would like to be featured in our tour. % minutes later they gave us the thumbs up. Hopefully, we can talk our way to back stage passes for the Wyclef or Keller Williams shows. This is a great venue and should prove to be a fun assignment.

January 27-Feb 1- Things have been going a hundred miles an hour. On the last day of the XGames we had the good fortune to hook up with our new friends on the Canadian Ski Cross team. We kind of documented them through out the day, with their approval. It was a really interesting experience. I they seemed to be on the same wave length in many ways. During the XGames we made lots of connections with people in the industry but more importantly met a lot of cool, but regular, skiers and boarders like Andrew and his buddy, Andy, Dave, Eric, Brent, Keith, and the list goes on. The best part was everyone was very supportive of what we are trying to do and the interaction we are trying to create. It seems like every step we take forward twenty new things pop up. Drew and I have a pool on who will be the first to hit the ground from exhaustion first. If you want in on the pool let us know! We have a lot of admin stuff to take care of and some issues to address but then we are on to the Winter Tour. Wish us luck.

Looks like it was a bloody good time. I wish I could catch an edition myself.

any plans for new slew of X-games??
(On June 13, 2008)
Bryan, we will be hitting as many smaller events that we can this summer for biking and climbing. Then back to the Xgames next winter. I would love to hit the summer XGames but am already over booked. As we get more correspondents we will start covering more events.

I have heard a lot about the XGames from my brother who goes. How would a trip be with kids? I try and take my kids to as many events as I can as a way to encourage them to become involved in sports. My son would love it.

The X Games are lots of fun for little kids. I would suggest the practice rounds as you can get closer to the action and have a better chance to meet the athlets. Hotels during the XGames are $$. You would want to look at staying in Carbondale, Basalt or Glenwood Springs.

If you aren't sitting on no major money better believe you are going to be sick after the x games. But they are most definately worth it.

will you be heading to the winter x-games next year also?
